Who We Are
Jordon Sumrall
General Manager
Jordon’s earliest memories revolve around her love for animals. Her parents have photo albums filled with pictures of Jordon and the many pets her family rescued. Even when they dressed her up for a special occasion picture, it was almost always “photo-bombed” by a 4-legged friend or two. As she grew up in the Spring Branch area of Houston, Jordon babysat neighborhood pets, earning a reputation for being both loving and reliable. Neighbors would return home to find their pets safe and content. As word spread, Jordon never had to look for jobs. The jobs always found her.
Jordon attended Northbrook High School, and then got certified in cosmetology. As much as she enjoyed her customers, there was just something missing. After a while, she realized that to be truly fulfilled, she was going to need to return to her first love of being full time with animals. So Jordon found a job at Pecan Grove Kennel. She had been raised following the Golden Rule, so she set out to treat every customer’s beloved pets the same way she would want someone to treat her own beloved pets.
With this belief as her guiding light, Jordon worked hard to get to know every animal as a unique individual, with their own personalities and needs. In addition, Pecan Grove has had a longstanding relationship with various rescue groups, and Jordon developed a reputation as a trusted liaison with them. Her attention to detail concerning every animal in her care has more than once saved lives, when Jordon noticed an unusual symptom or behavior, and her fast action uncovered a previously undetected medical condition.
After nine years of a working life filled with all kinds of animals, Jordon feels confident that she is on the right path. She always says that she is very lucky to have found and followed her life’s calling from such an early age. In her free time, she is never happier than when she is spending time with her own dogs Maggie, Millie, and Nino, and her cats Whiskey and Roxie. Jordon looks forward to a future of providing her very best to the many animals at Pecan Grove, who daily fill her life with joy.
"Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever."
